These augmented-reality glasses are helping the blind see again

To see, you need more than eyes. “Even when someone is losing their sight, they still have a good brain that’s trying to understand and pick up clues from objects, if given enough input,” says Stephen Hicks, research fellow in neuroscience at the University of Oxford. This mechanism means partially sighted people can be helped to see, even as their eyesight worsens.

Eyesight breakthrough: Scientists develop new way to grow human corneas

BRITISH scientists are set to revolutionise eyesight treatment after they developed new way to grow human corneas.

Experts have grown artificial corneas on a curved surface meaning the cells arrange themselves in a lattice-like structure.

The process takes three months improving the quality and transparency of the cornea.

Flowers use ‘blue halo’ optical trick to attract bees, say researchers

Flowers might seem like one of life’s simple pleasures, but it turns out there might be more to them than meets the eye.

Researchers have discovered that certain species of flowering plants boast tiny ridges on their petals that, thanks to variations in their height or spacing, scatter light to cast a blueish hue over the blooms.
